Another good Norah Wilson Story. Nita is an attorney and Craig a cop. They are drawn to each other in the court room constantly in the way attorney and witnesses are fighting each other. Nita lived in fear of her reputation as a lawyer if it became known she was seeing a detective, with visions of the men talking in the precinct office. Thus when Craig asked her out she said she had a no cop dating rule. Then a mix up with the hospital makes her think she is dying and she needs comfort and to take life by the horns and not have any regrets later. She calls Craig and asks for a date. They meet in a restarant and before they even order they end up leaving and she takes him to her apartment, for a most wonderful night of love making. Then in the morning she gets a call from the doctor telling her of a mixed in MRI reports and that she doesn't have a brain tumor. Officer Craig overhears the conversation and confronts her with why she called him if she thought she was dying. Then runs out in anger. She goes to her office and the look on her face more or less tells her partner she must have had a wild night of monkey sex and she finally has to admit it is true. Then Craig shows up and her law partner can tell even more it was detective Craig. Craig and Nita leave the office and he insists on taking her home where he intends on fixing her food and letting her sleep. She agrees and while she takes a shower Craig fixes her macaroni and cheese from scratch. They eat and talk and he confesses that he loves her which of course she doesn't see how he can as they hadn't even dated before now. He ends up proposing that they be engaged and married, then redefines it to dating for 6 months , engaged and then married. Another story that I really got into. It is the fourth in the Serve and Protect Series and I love Norah Wilsons writing. Thumbs up, I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.Product details

Super sweet fast read. Can be read individually but is part of a great set by Norah Wilson. Love this author! Even in a novella the background is well written with quickly developed characters that make sense and pull you in. I've read the others in this series and they were amazing! All were edge of your seat, filled with action and drama, and the hot sexy love scenes could set your pages on fire! Highly recommend!
Nita and Craig have been dancing around each other for several years but due to conflicting jobs Nita keeps her distance until the worst possible news has her throwing all caution to the wind and finally following her heart. One night with Detective Craig Walker, no holds barred, after devastating news won't matter since she won't be around long anyway. Or will she? And then, is one night ever going to be enough?
I was really impressed with this short read. I downloaded it because it was free, but got a lot more than I expected. It is a short novella, but the story includes fully developed characters with emotions that felt real.
Lawyer Nita and detective Craig have known each other as opposing sides in the courtroom for years. But Nita has shot Craig down twice before, because she's got a "no dating cops" policy. When a mix up at the doctor's leaves Nita thinking that she is dying, she decides she wants to live the last bit of life to the fullest. For Nita, that means calling up Det. Craig, and jumping into bed.
I really enjoyed the author's writing. While there isn't a lot of "cop action" in this book, I look forward to picking up another book by her to check out her romantic suspense writing. Based on what I've read, I think it will be good. I have no concerns about her ability to write steamy scenes, there are definitely several hot scenes placed into Nita & Craig's story. While the novella moves quickly, the flow of the love scenes felt natural, and worked together with the plot to build an excellent story.
Simply put Norah Wilson's "Needing Nita" a novella within the Serve and Protect series was too short. It starts out with life changing news for attorney Nita the main character which in turn sparks her new found courage in approaching Detective Craig Walker. The story was a very quick read and I think it will be better received as a part of the series and not a stand alone effort. That said the story moved too fast and left me to fill in more blanks than I cared to. The steamy scenes that played out Nita's fantasy realized were standard and adequate;not the best that I've read. And in the end despite the main characters knowing each other for a number of years Wilson's attempt moved from zero to sixty leaving this reader with a giant question mark. I am a fan of novellas and short stories but this fell short with its lackluster craftsmanship. I also understand the idea of writing these types of shorts to kick off a series of books and they have worked particularly well for some authors. Wilson neglected to utilize this method of promotion for the Serve and Protect series because plainly stated it wasn't effective enough as far as heat, anticipation, attraction or sparks. I don't think that I will purchase the other books in the series. My short story reccomendations are Teasing Trent by M. Malone and Shelter From the Storm by Patricia Ryan.
